Dining Bucket List: Cabin 22

Autumn in Central Oregon is glorious; there’s no disputing that. From the world-class hiking to the breathtaking fall foliage, it’s a truly special time of year; one that can still be perfect for dining al fresco.

Cabin 22 is one Central Oregon establishment that boasts a picturesque patio, friendly service, and killer food and cocktails to boot.  Colorful hanging baskets surround the spacious patio, located in front of the main building.  For late night guests, there’s a fire pit in this area, which is ideal for grabbing a beer, cider, or cocktail after a day of adventuring in the mountains..

For tourists and locals alike, choose from a huge beer list, including offerings from multiple Central Oregon breweries, as well as a cocktail list that includes a refreshing house margarita, bright with flavor from tangy orange juice and, of course, high quality tequila that pairs beautifully with a toasty afternoon.

As for food, Cabin 22 cranks out a variety of tasty dishes, including yummy pizzas made with homemade dough, flavorful salads, sliders and my personal favorite--nachos.  The Picadillo Nachos are loaded with delicious ground Picadillo beef, shredded cheese, jalapeños, green onions, tomatoes, cabbage and an unbelievable chipotle sauce. Ordinarily I’m a purist when it comes to nachos.  If there’s a hefty portion of guacamole dolloped on top, I’m satisfied.  This chipotle sauce, however, is a game-changer.  It elevates nachos from stereotypical snack food to a dish that truly excites the palate while still remaining cheesy and sumptuous.

For breakfast (Saturday and Sunday mornings until noon), lunch, dinner or a snack, Cabin 22 offers awesome food, libations and service.  So whether you’re travelling through town and looking for a quick bite, or you’re a local looking for a new place to try out, Cabin 22 is a spot that is not to be missed, particularly during a season as glorious as summer.
