Dining Bucket List: Pintxo

Happy hour appropriately occurs twice a day at Pintxo, a modern Spanish style tapas restaurant in Seattle's Belltown.  There, diners are able to enjoy inexpensive sangria, wines, and beer accompanied by several delicious small plates during two happy hours.  The first begins at five and ends at seven.  Then break for siesta and come back between ten and midnight in order to take advantage of the specials yet again.  The prices on food and beverages during these happy hours start at around $2 and don't exceed $10.  This small fee will afford the diner tastes of Spanish inspired dishes such as the sumptuous albondigas (pork and beef meatballs in a tomato and piquillo pepper sauce), pork belly skewers with balsamic reduction and micro-greens, mussels, and plate of assorted Spanish cheeses.

Outside of the happy hour specials, the restaurant offers a mean paella throughout the day and puts out dangerously tasty bocadillos at lunch.  The bocadillos at Pintxo are thoughtfully constructed and may be assembled with pork or eggplant and, of course, Spanish cheeses like manchego, a sharp sheep's milk cheese, or a sharp Spanish blue that hold their own with the other bold ingredients.  This is a hearty sandwich and a more filling alternative to those dainty tapas.  In addition to the amazing food, the staff is knowledgeable and hospitable, which is also reflected in the restaurant's warm decor and atmosphere.  Pintxo offers a little taste of Spain right in the heart of Belltown.
