Join Bar Vivant in Fun and Games for International Sherry Week

What better way to learn about and enjoy sherry than with … an obstacle course? Bar Vivant (2225 E Burnside St.), the tapas bar adjacent to Pix Patisserie, invites you to celebrate International Sherry Week with fun, games and tastings on Saturday November 12th from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

The Sherry Educational Obstacle Course, featuring the wines of Emilio Lustau, will guide participants through six stations (called “criaderas”), learning about sherry and getting quizzed on their newfound knowledge at each station. Topics at each of the stations include: Introduction to Sherry and the Solera System, Biological Aging, Oxidative Aging, Extracting Samples and Sweet Sherries. Once you hear the buzzer, move to the next station! The final challenge (at the “solera”) will involve attendees pairing delicious food items with sherries. A panel of judges (including Steven Dragun from Emilio Lustau, Margaux Lemma from Lemma Wines and official Sherry Educator, Cheryl Wakerhauser of Bar Vivant) will evaluate their choices. You will be sure to learn a lot, have fun, taste some outstanding small plates and sherries and find out what a “criadera” and a “solera” is (hint: it has to do with the method of aging the sherry).

Admission is $15.00 each (including sherry samples and tapas) and teams can be up to four people. Preregistration is highly recommended but not necessary - call 971.271.7166 or email rachel@pixpatisserie.com to reserve a spot. See you there!
