Sip & Stroll Salem Returns With Local Flavor and Community Spirit
Late summer in downtown Salem feels made for evenings like this. Music drifts through the streets, tasting glasses clink between conversations, and local businesses stay buzzing long after sunset. Sip & Stroll Salem has quickly become one of the Willamette Valley’s most meaningful community events, bringing together local wine, beer, spirits, food, and live music in support of Garten Services.
Held throughout downtown Salem, the event invites guests to explore curated tasting stops featuring wineries, breweries, cideries, distilleries, and community partners from across Oregon. The experience feels intentionally relaxed. Guests move at their own pace, discovering new pours while connecting with the people and stories behind them.
What began in 2022 as a post-pandemic community gathering has grown into one of Salem’s signature summer events. This year introduces an expanded Beer Garden while continuing to spotlight downtown Salem businesses and local makers throughout the evening.
At the center of Sip & Stroll is Garten Services, a nonprofit founded in 1970 to create employment opportunities and inclusive support programs for people with disabilities. Today, the organization serves more than 200 adults across Salem and Eugene through workforce development, job placement, and community participation programs.
Proceeds from this year’s event will help fund a new accessible transportation van designed to better serve rural communities throughout the Willamette Valley. Reliable transportation remains one of the largest barriers to employment access for many individuals with disabilities, especially outside larger cities.
That sense of purpose is part of what makes Sip & Stroll feel different from a typical tasting event. The evening feels deeply connected to the community around it.
One attendee shared:
“I was having a rough week, but I wanted to come out and see the best of humanity. I wanted to see some good in the world, and why it makes a difference to come out and show up.”
