Seattle, and especially the neighborhood of Ballard, is becoming a hotspot for delicious BBQ with a Pacific Northwest twist! From juicy baby back ribs to smoked pulled pork sandwiches, this city is full of excellent establishments to visit for some chowing.

Art Marble 21 | 731 Westlake Avenue N | 206-223-0300

The style of cuisine at Art Marble 21 is certainly more Southwest, however BBQ gets a special feature with a few dishes as well. For one, the Art Marble 21 house Wings come in BBQ sauce, and you can get sliders with pork in a mango guava BBQ sauce topped with Serrano coleslaw. Both are available at Happy Hour for $6 each (almost half off).

Bitterroot | 5239 Ballard Avenue NW | 206-588-1577

Bitterroot does BBQ right in the heart of Ballard, with a dozen different meat options (served with your choice of two tasty sides), plus seven different BBB sandwiches served on pretzel rolls with coleslaw and pickled carrots. After you’ve dined, be prepared for the most satisfying of food comas.

The Boar’s Nest | 2008 NW 56th Street | 206-973-1970

Another hoppin’ Ballard BBQ spot is The Boar’s Nest. Their style is more Southern, yet the local ingredients used in The Boar’s Nest dishes definitely make the traditional recipes shine. Choose from a sandwich or meat, and select your choice of sauce from their list of eight delicious options ranging from classic and sweet to tangy or spicy! Smoked meat is also available by the pound, if you’re feeding a crowd.

Local 360 | 2234 1st Avenue | 206-441-9360

If you’re hunting for a spot that’s 100% Pacific Northwest, it doesn’t get any more fitting than Local 360, where everything is sourced within 360 miles of Seattle. Their Smoked Shrimp & Grits is absolutely amazing, with shrimp from Oregon marinated in a black pepper garlic BBQ sauce, served with cheesy grits.

Two Shoe BBQ | 4105 Leary Way NW | 206-693-3962

Drunky’s Two Shoe BBQ as they’ve been known in the past—now simplified to Two Shoe BBQ—has all of the goods when it comes to smoked meats and delicious barbecue. Load up with their family style meal with all of the fixin’s and sides, or select your particular favorites from their various BBQ sandwiches, entree plates, salads and sides. Finish up with a slice of pie from Yippie Pie Yay.
