Whether you like ‘em ultra-rare or crisped to well-done, most carnivores are likely part- or full-time observers of the burger diet. For all you local champions of charbroil, believers in buns, and connoisseurs of ketchup: Sink your teeth into one of these Seattle-made burgers -- each grilled up hot until 9 p.m. and beyond.
Ballard Loft | 5105 Ballard Ave NW | 206-420-2737
Hawks fans who stop into this casual neighborhood sports bar can catch the big game and a big, juicy burger. Hang out until 11 p.m. (and 2 a.m. on weekends) and take advantage of the Big Ballard Burger during late night happy hour (Mondays from 4 p.m. to close and 10 p.m. to close Tuesdays through Fridays). Ballard Loft’s mainstay burger incorporates all the essential fixings atop a half-pound Painted Hills beef patty and cheddar, Swiss, or American cheese. Wanting to mix up your sandwich game? Choose from a variety of hot and cold offerings from cheesesteak to clubs.
Bell + Whete | 200 Bell St | 206-538-0180
If it’s dinnertime or happy hour, Belltown’s premier European-style gastropub is grilling up its House Ground Steak Burger. Lucky for late-nighters, one of two happy hours goes down from 10-midnight. This is your window of opportunity to order a late-night heap of beef, melty Manchego, ham aioli, relish, marrow, and wagyu fat fries… because we all know burgers are a dish often best served late. Don’t go thirsty -- choose your preferred nightcap from wines by the glass, classic handcrafted mixed drinks, or beer and select cocktails on tap.
Duke’s Chowder House | Multiple locations
One of the greater Seattle area’s favorite family seafood spots, Duke’s tailors its hours by location: six locations, to be exact. Though you can also journey to Kent, Tukwila, or Tacoma for a bite, Emerald City-dwellers will be happy to know that the Alki, Green Lake, and Lake Union locations keep the grill running long after dark. Each grass-fed cheeseburger features a unique variation of all the stuff you love (homemade mayo, onion straws, fresh tomato and shredded lettuce guaranteed) and none of the stuff you don’t (no growth-stimulant, antibiotic, or hormone-treated cows are harmed during the making of this burger). Even the gluten-free members of your party can entertain their tastebuds’ burger fancies by requesting a locally baked, gluten-free Manini’s bun. Dinner is served until 11 p.m. (12 a.m. on weekends), or you can get yours during late-night happy hour in the bar and on-deck every weekday from 9-close.
Lecosho | 89 University Street | 206-623-2101
Offering a delectable array of European dishes with Northwest ingredients and flavors, Lecosho is also a top spot to find an amazing burger. Their Painted Hills burger is made with half a pound of ground beef from Painted Hills, with spicy aioli, Beecher's Flagship cheese, pickled red onion, and arugula on a grilled ciabatta bun. It's the best burger in Seattle, in my humble opinion, and I highly recommend you add bacon! This burger is available for lunch and late night (until 1 a.m.) at Lecosho.
Uneeda Burger | 4302 Fremont Ave N | 206-547-2600
Uneeda Burger is a go-to stop along Fremont’s main drag, and its menu should also be a staple of your burger diet. Choose from 9 specialty signature burgers (including a burger rendition of a classic Croque-monsieur and the fan-favorite BBQ or Philly Smash), or order the Classic Burger and save room for a hand-dipped shake. All burgers feature all-natural Painted Hills beef, some feature a killer special sauce, and all are served for lunch, dinner, and late(ish) nighttime cravings until 9 p.m. daily.
Von's Gustobistro | 1225 1st Avenue | 206-621-8667
At Von's Gustobistro (also known as Von's 1000 Spirits), you'll find a top-notch selection of griddled, juicy pink prime Hamburgs! I highly recommend their amazing Vietnamese-style Banh Mi Burger. It's hoisin glazed, with a savory pickled carrot and cucumber relish, sambal aioli, sweet and sour fresno chiles, cilantro, and green leaf lettuce. This burger is available for lunch, happy hour, dinner and late night from 10 to midnight.
