The struggle is real for parents of young kiddos, especially when dining out. In the city, it can be tough to find a family-friendly spot where the menu (and its prices) is a good fit and fellow customers won’t give you dirty looks if your two-year-old decides to throw a tantrum. But the welcoming atmosphere of a Mexican eatery is the trick! Let’s highlight some of those family-friendly Mexican restaurants in Seattle for your family’s enjoyment...

Nana’s Mexican Kitchen | 1825 Queen Anne Ave N | 206-922-3340

With recipes from the owner’s grandmother’s kitchen, authentic flavors and spices and ingredients sourced locally, Nana’s Mexican Kitchen is a great spot for a sit-down meal with the family. From fajitas and tamales, to quesadillas or a torta, Nana’s is the place to savor traditional Mexican dishes. The portions of the entrees are pretty large, so they are great for sharing! The kids can enjoy a non-alcoholic beverage while Mom and Dad sip on fresh and/or fruity cocktails that pair perfectly with your meal.

Señor Moose | 5242 Leary Ave NW | 206-784-5568

Celebrate and enjoy comida tipica, the traditional form of Mexican cooking found in the backroom kitchens and fondas of the central plateau of Mexico. As a collection of recipes and cooking styles gleaned from years of travels and food experiences, Señor Moose has a deliciously widespread approach to their cuisine. The Mexican restaurant offers new flavors and combinations for kids and parents to try, such as the Filete Enchocolatado: skirt steak sautéed with bitter chocolate, white wine and onion.

Cactus | Multiple Locations

Cactus offers Mexican and southwest-style cuisine and beverages from five locations around Seattle and the Eastside: South Lake Union, Alki Beach, Madison Park, Bellevue Square and Kirkland. The menu is largely focused on tapas and small shareable plates, with Mexican classics and much-loved dishes like fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas. The restaurants also offer a seasonal Feature menu and gluten-free selection.

Los Agaves | 1514 Pike Place Market Ave #7 | 206-504-0202

Take a break from the bustling Pike Place Market to enjoy some authentic Mexican street food! Los Agaves is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, with freshly made tacos, tamales, burritos and more. It’s more approachable than many of the finer dining options in the Market, and certainly family-friendly! Gluten-free options are available for those with dietary restrictions or sensitivity.

Mama’s Cantina | 2234 2nd Ave | 206-728-6262

Seattle’s oldest Mexican restaurant, Mama’s Cantina, is a festive spot for homemade salsas and more contemporary Mexican dishes. Originally known as Mama’s Mexican Kitchen, the establishment closed earlier this year, and was revived as Mama’s Cantina by restaurateur Marcus Charles. Here, you’ll find Mexican cuisine inspired by LA’s vibrant food truck scene, classic dishes from Mexico City, and favorites with an international approach to preparation.

Amono’s Mexican Kitchen | 1829 130th Ave NE | 425-233-0972

Casual, approachable, and fun - Amono’s Mexican Kitchen taco truck is a hot stop for the family in need of filling some hungry tummies. Located just off of Bel-Red Road on 130th Avenue NE, stop by the taco truck for some filling and flavorful Mexican street food, and kid-specific items (burritos, quesadillas, or a taco plate).
