Seattle’s Most Brilliant Burgers and Sandwiches with Slaw

No BBQ grub spread is complete without a helping of coleslaw (at the very least, a scoop on the side of your overflowing plate). Bite into a meaty sandwich or burger with some slaw stuffed between the bread and you’ve got everything you need in one tasty package. Start with these Seattle renditions.

Delicatus | Multiple locations

This classic Pioneer Square sandwich joint recently opened its second location inside Benaroya Hall, and both are stacking ‘em high. You’ll find The Mountain on both shops’ menus -- a little ditty featuring brisket pastrami, corned beef, Russian dressing, and a heaping scoop of slaw between toasted Caraway Rye. Location-specific specialities include Benaroya Hall’s Veggie BBQ sandwich (pulled jackfruit braised in house BBQ and topped with coleslaw, shaved red onions, and jalapeños) and Porchetta (which also features chipotle aioli, white cheddar, lime-marinated coleslaw, poblano peppers, red peppers, and cilantro), or Pioneer Square’s Fists of Fury (pulled pork, wasabi aioli, tobiko caviar, and a spicy slaw made of shaved cabbage, sliced jalapeños, carrots, cucumbers, and cilantro).

Highliner Pub | 3909 18th Ave W | 206-216-1254

Interbay’s Highliner Pub serves every burger and sandwich on its menu with either french fries or its fan-favorite Pubhouse slaw for solo munching or scooping onto your bun. The housemade slaw pairs especially well with the classic slow-cooked pulled pork sandwich -- or you can opt to build your own burger exactly how you want it (of course, with plenty of slaw included).

Rhein Haus | 912 12th Ave | 206-325-5409

In between rounds of bocce ball, sneak bites of beer hall fare featuring Rhein Haus’ own cabbage and sage slaw. Try it when you order the trio of Chicken Schnitzel Sliders or Pork Schnitzel Sandwich (both piled with pickled fennel, Dijon dressing, and a pretzel bun to boot).

The Lodge Sports Grille | Multiple locations

The Lodge’s Wazzu Burger has a little something for slaw lovers, bacon lovers, and cheese lovers alike. Part of its Pac-12 burger menu, this entry includes Granny Smith apple coleslaw, caramelized onions, bacon aioli, and sharp white cheddar atop a flame-broiled patty.

Teddy's Bigger Burgers | Multiple locations

Head to this Hawaiian burger hotspot’s Greenlake or Woodinville locations for a taste of the BBQ pork sandwich (Kilauea Fire BBQ sauce, pickles, and slaw), or add slaw to any burger of your choice.
