🛳️ A Portland Tradition, Reimagined: The Cinnamon Bear Cruise
For many Portlanders, holiday memories smell like cinnamon and sound like radio static, a nod to the 1937 radio serial that introduced a certain adventurous bear named Cinnamon. Now, 20 years into its revival, the Cinnamon Bear Cruise aboard the Portland Spirit has become a can’t-miss multigenerational event.
Created in partnership with local composer Rick Lewis, this immersive river cruise celebrates the cherished story of Judy and Jimmy Barton’s whimsical journey through Maybeland in search of their missing Silver Star. Onboard, families are treated to live magic with Jack Frost, storytime with Queen Melissa, and meet-and-greets with Cinnamon Bear himself; plus a souvenir photo, a cinnamon cookie (a wink to Lipman’s tradition), and a hot plated breakfast with reserved seating.
The cruise embarks from Salmon Springs Dock (1010 SW Naito Pkwy) on select mornings in late November and throughout December. It’s a gift for the senses, with river views, musical theater, and a sprinkle of 20th-century wonder.
