Hello, Roxysgoodeats! – Portland, Oregon

Roxana, aka Roxysgoodeats, was born in LA but currently resides in Portland with her husband and two young kids. Her love for food stems from the deep food cultures of her immigrant parent’s home countries of El Salvador & Vietnam. She started taking pictures at an early age to document her recipes alongside her Abuelita or from her world travels. Roxy now shares her visual catalog of dishes around Portland and beyond. She specializes in spotlighting everything from trending to hidden food gems. Her favorites include Cafe Rowan, Hat Yai, and Scotch Lodge.

Cafe Rowan

Cafe Rowan is the place for brunch lovers. Chef Spencer Ivankoe is keeping it accurate to what he grew up with on the East Coast and combining it with fresh local ingredients. The sauces, spice blends, everything is made from scratch in-house. All the dishes are beautifully plated. I highly recommend the Lobster Roll and Dungeness Crab Eggs Benedict. The stacked layers of perfectly poached eggs, shaved asparagus, and avocado mixed with the egg yolk & white truffle hollandaise is next level. Chef Ivankoe also hosts weekly prix fixe dinners with monthly menus.

Hat Yai

Look no further for the perfect casual lunch date in Portland. Features Hat Yai fried chicken, rich Malayu-style curry, fresh, flaky roti made by hand every day, and rotating South Thai dishes. James Beard semifinalist, Akkapong “Earl” Ninsom, is the Restaurateur behind Eem, Langbaan, Paadee, and Lazy Susan.

Scotch Lodge

If you’re a Whisky lover or connoisseur, this cocktail bar is the place for you. Outstanding cuisine, drinks, bartenders, and speakeasy vibes. Grab a seat at the bar to learn about their rare & unique Whisky from around the world while watching the skilled bartenders make magic. Of course, the drinks are fantastic, but so is their food! I always get the phenomenal Soft Shell Crab Sandwich with white kimchi, crispy shallot, and milk bread. I love the innovative twists on classics like PNW sourced Oysters + Granita made with classic cocktail flavors like tequila sunrise or sour apple & sake.
