When it comes to cocktails, there are some crazy, decadent, and just plain bizarre Bloody Mary creations out there. Yet somehow, the combination of vodka, tomato juice, and mixed seasonings is extremely susceptible to flavor experimentation. These spots in the Seattle area have honed the craft, from minimalist marvels to spicy-hot and over-the-top sights to behold.
Doc's Marina Grill | 403 Madison Ave S | 206-842-8339
Why settle for the same old happy hour when you can hop a ferry to Bainbridge Island from Seattle? Arrive at Doc’s between 3 and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday (or go for late-night happy hour between 9 p.m. and close on weekday or weekend evenings) and sip on the Atomic Mary. Spicy infused vodka pairs especially well with a bask on the sunny deck on a clear day.

Duke's Chowder House | Multiple locations
Pacific Northwest seafood powerhouse Duke’s has no shortage of locations ‘round the Puget Sound (there are 7 to choose from). In Seattle proper, head to Alki Beach, Green Lake, or Lake Union for all the freshest (and sustainable!) seafood and shellfish you can muster. While you’re at it, Duke’s Famous Bloody Bloody Mary is a must-try. It’s the restaurant’s all-time best-selling cocktail, and it tastes so nice they had to name it twice. To create this spicy, salty, and savory concoction, the bartender starts with New Amsterdam vodka infused with roasted garlic and onions, black peppercorns, bell peppers, lemons, and limes. The infusion is mixed with all-natural Bloody Mary seasoning before the drink is garnished with two jumbo prawns. It’s pretty much impossible to go wrong with a drink this robust.
Matt's in the Market | 94 Pike St | 206-467-7909
No Seattle restaurant roundup is complete without at least one Pike Place Market mention, and when you’re downtown and craving a Bloody Mary with your lunch, this is the spot. Order daytime bartender Robbie’s Bloody Mary (served with a snit on the side for proper chasing) alongside your ultra-fresh, a hyper-seasonal plate of choice. No matter what, you can count on Matt’s to highlight all the best flavors pulled from neighboring Market stall purveyors.
