Little Bird, the “bistro” by the team behind Le Pigeon, is open and serving a full menu from 11:30a.m. to midnight during the week, and for dinner on the weekends. The food and ambiance are inspired by the bistros of Paris, but are Portland at heart. Little Bird takes reservations, but holds a portion of its seating for walk-ins.

I treated myself to a fancy dinner on a Monday evening. It was already 8pm when I decided to leave my apartment, but I knew that the kitchen was still open and that I most likely would find a spot at the bar. And that I did, with a very attentive and friendly bartender named Miriam. She made me a perfect French 75 to accompany a plate of Netart Oysters. They were served with a fresh horseradish cream and an Herb Mignonette. Delightful. I could have easily eaten a dozen, but wanted to save room for the Chicken Fried Trout that I had been hearing all about via friends and strangers on Instagram. I think I told Miriam, “It was heavenly”, when she asked how my entrée was. She had a few people sitting at the bar and all of us were taken care of with approachable professionalism, kindness and poise. I will most certainly return and next time, I’ll bring a date!
Little Bird Bistro made for a delightful Friday lunch. My only regret is not saving room for dessert. I’ll be going back specifically for that!
